NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A 67-year-old woman crossing a Manhattan street was killed by a tow truck driver attempting to make a turn on Monday, authorities said.
Just after 7 p.m., the woman was crossing East 10th Street at Avenue C in Alphabet City when a 59-year-old man driving a tow truck made a left turn off of Avenue C, police said.
According to officials, the driver crashed into the woman as she was in the crosswalk.
She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officials have not released her name.
The tow truck driver remained on the scene and did not immediately face charges.
An investigation remains ongoing.
