HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. (WCBS 880) — Free COVID-19 tested will be taking place throughout the Town of Hempstead for the next few weeks, officials announced Thursday.
With a spike in coronavirus cases growing in Lawrence and now in Cedarhurst, Town of Hempstead Supervisor Don Clavin says residents need to get tested.
For the next three weeks, all residents can get a COVID-19 test at no cost at various locations in the town.
“This is so necessary and like I said, it's so timely when you're reading about these numbers. We don't want to go backwards. We want to go forwards,” Clavin said. “Again, I will stress to the residents: Go to the town website, go to one of these facilities.”
Testing will be done at Baldwin Park from Oct. 12 through Oct. 16, at Veterans Memorial Park from Oct. 19 through Oct. 23 and at Echo Park in West Hempstead from Oct. 26 through Oct. 30.
The town has partnered up with Northwell Health for the testing, which is being paid for by the town using the federal CARES Act money.
