WHP Global, the parent company of Toys “R” Us, said Wednesday that the 20,000-square-foot store will open at the East Rutherford mall in mid-December with extended holiday hours.

It will be “reminiscent of the beloved toy store customers know and love” and will also include Geoffrey's Café and ice cream parlor, a two-story slide, interactive experiences and product demonstrations, mall officials said.

The flagship will be in an area of the mall that includes attractions like Nickelodeon Universe Theme Park and DreamWorks Water Park.

It will be the first Toys “R” Us store to open in the U.S. since the retailer closed its last two stores, including at the Garden State Plaza in Paramus, earlier this year.

In August, Toys “R” Us relaunched its website as part of a partnership with Macy’s that will also include over 400 Toys “R” Us “shop-in-shops” slated to open at Macy’s stores nationwide starting in 2022.
