NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) -- An Uber driver was placed in a chokehold and robbed by a passenger who he caught performing a lewd act in the backseat of his car in Brooklyn, police said Monday.

The NYPD released surveillance images showing the suspect they're searching for in the Aug. 14 attack on the border of Bushwick and Bedford-Stuyvesant. He's believed to be in his 20s.

The 54-year-old victim was driving at Shaffer Road and Broadway when he looked in his rearview mirror and noticed the passenger touching himself inappropriately, according to police.

The driver asked the man to get out of his vehicle, but instead the passenger placed him in a chokehold, stole his car keys and fled on foot, police said.

The victim declined medical attention at the scene.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
