
NEW YORK (WCBS 880) — The largest democratic political club on the Upper East Side in Manhattan has voted to rescind its endorsement of Scott Stringer for mayor.
The Four Freedoms Democratic Club on Friday announced it will instead be supporting former New York City Department of Sanitation Commissioner Kathryn Garcia.
The group is the latest the pull an endorsement for the New York City comptroller following an accusation of sexual harassment. The Working Families Party has also rescinded its endorsement.
Earlier this month, a woman named Jean Kim came forward claiming Stringer sexually harassed her in 2001 when he was running for public advocate while serving on the New York State Assembly.
"Scott Stringer repeatedly groped me, put his hands on my thighs and between my legs and demanded to know why I wouldn't have sex with him," Kim said.
Kim also alleges that Stringer offered to get her a role as a Democratic district leader if she kept the alleged sexual misconduct a secret.
Stringer has denied the allegations but, has faced criticism over the allegations.
The city comptroller still boasts the endorsements of the United Federation of Teachers and other labor groups, including Teamsters Local 237.
According to reports, it took several rounds of ranked choice voting for the Four Freedoms Democratic Club to endorse Garcia instead of Stringer.
