NEW YORK (WCBS 880) – The Mets are joining forces with New York Cares to put on the 17th Annual Mets Coat Drive on Dec. 6 and are seeking donations – in exchange for two tickets to a 2024 game.
Mets personnel and New York Cares volunteers will be collecting donations at Citi Field to keep New Yorkers in need warm this winter.
The event runs from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday and donations can be dropped off in the Mets Team Store at K Corner, organizers said.
Those who bring in a new or gently used winter coat will be given a voucher redeemable for two tickets to a 2024 Mets home game, (not including Opening Day or the Subway Series).
The coat drive, presented by 1PointFive, will also feature the Coca-Cola Holiday Caravan from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m., where fans can snap a picture with Santa and the truck’s lights and drink a free can Coke Zero.
Mr. Met will be on the scene himself from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., Mets personnel said.
Fans getting to the event by car should note that Seaver Way is closed to vehicles, and they can receive free parking in Lot A. Seaver Way sidewalk remains open to pedestrians.
