Woman, 63, on electric scooter fatally rear-ended by SUV in Queens

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A 63-year-old woman riding an electric scooter died when she was struck by an SUV on a Queens street Wednesday morning, authorities said.

At approximately 10 a.m., police responded to a 911 call of a motor vehicle collision in the vicinity of College Point Boulevard and Blossom Boulevard in Downtown Flushing.

Upon arrival, officials determined that a 41-year-old woman was driving a Honda CRV westbound on College Boulevard making a left onto Blossom Boulevard when she struck Mei Ying Lan who was driving an electric scooter from behind traveling in the same direction.

EMS transported Lan to New York-Presbyterian Queens where she was pronounced dead.

The driver of the CRV remained on scene.

There have been no arrests made and the investigation remains ongoing by NYPD's Highway Collision Investigation Squad.
