NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – A bottle-wielding woman attacked a subway musician unprovoked at the Herald Square stop Tuesday, police said as they released images of the suspect.

The 29-year-old victim was playing a cello on the mezzanine of the 34th Street–Herald Square station at 5:45 p.m. when the woman took a metal bottle and bashed him over the head with it, according to police.

She immediately fled the station and was last seen headed towards Broadway, between West 34th and West 35th streets, police said.

The victim suffered a gash to the head but is expected to recover.
