UNION COUNTY, N.J. (WCBS 880) — Almost two months after a fatal hit-and-run in Hillside, New Jersey, a suspect has been arrested for murder and related charges.

Schwnaire Jones, 36, was struck and killed by a driver on Dec. 5 who fled the scene. Her boyfriend, 40-year-old Daaim Boykin was arrested on Friday for his alleged role in the incident, Union County Prosecutor William Daniel announced on Sunday.
Jones’ lifeless body was found on the sidewalk of King Street in Hillside by responding officers where she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Assistant Prosecutor Michael Sheets, a spokesman for the office, told NJ Advance Media that Boykins and Jones were arguing in her Toyota Camry when she got out of the vehicle and went onto the sidewalk. Sheets said Boykins then allegedly ran her down with the car.
Sheets added that information from Jones’ family led investigators to focus on Boykins.
Boykins is currently being held in the Union County Jail pending a pre-trial detention hearing that will be scheduled early this week in State Superior Court in Elizabeth.
