NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – A New Jersey man, a fugitive for over a decade on sexual assault of minor charges, was arrested in Florida, prosecutors announced on Tuesday.
Hellarion Meneses, 49, of Elizabeth, was charged with one count of first-degree aggravated sexual assault, one count of second-degree sexual assault, and one count of second-degree endangering the welfare of a child, who was under 13 years old at the time.
Meneses allegedly sexually assaulted a minor over a two-year period between 2004 and 2006, according to prosecutors. He fled the area after the charges were filed and had been at large since.
Osceola County police arrested Meneses in Kissimmee on April 9 and he is currently in custody, waiting extradition.
An investigation is ongoing.
The Union County Prosecutor’s Office is asking anyone with additional information about Meneses to call Special Victims Unit Lt. Janet Lopez at 908-347-8491.
