The 17-year-old good Samaritan, Anthony Zhongor, jumped into action after Mia Samolinski, 18, drove her Subaru Outback into Patchogue Bay, Suffolk County police said.

Samolinski was in a parking lot off South Ocean Avenue in Patchogue around 10:10 p.m. when she hit the gas pedal instead of the brake, sending her Subaru into the bay.

Zhongor witnessed the accident and dove in after Samolinski. He was able to open the driver’s side door and help her get out of the vehicle, police said.

Zhongor then brought Samolinski safely to the dock. Neither of them was injured.

The Subaru was pulled from the bay using a heavy-duty wrecker.
