NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) -- Brutally hot weather continued to bake the New York City area Wednesday, with RealFeel temps again set to near 100 degrees as head advisories were extended.
The heat wave--at least three days of highs at 90 degrees or above--started Tuesday and will last until Thursday, according to AccuWeather.
A heat advisory was extended until Thursday night for a swath of the Tri-State that stretches from North Jersey to Suffolk County and includes the Lower Hudson Valley, southwest Connecticut and all five boroughs of New York City.
Highs reached 93 degrees in Central Park on Wednesday, but RealFeels neared 100 as the humidity soared under the searing sun.
It will be hot, humid and partly cloudy Thursday with highs again around 93 and RealFeels nearing 100.
A dayslong storm threat also moves in starting Thursday, when a thunderstorm could pop up late in the day or at night.
The storms intensify on an otherwise humid and partly sunny Friday. Prepare for thunderstorms that could be intense at times and cause localized flooding. The high will be 87.
Even though the heat will subside for the weekend, it's still going to feel like a sauna as the soupy humidity persists.
More showers and storms are in the forecast on a humid Saturday. The high will dip to 82.
Sunday will be similar to Saturday--humid and stormy with highs in the low 80s.
