NEW YORK (WCBS 880) — Billy Crystal is making the trek from Broadway to the Bronx this week to kickoff Opening Day at Yankee Stadium.

The 74-year-old Tony and Emmy Award-winning comedian, actor and director, currently starring in "Mr. Saturday Night" on Broadway, will throw out the ceremonial first pitch as the Yankees open their 120th season in franchise history on Thursday afternoon.
The longtime Yankees fan, who got an at-bat during a 2008 Spring Training game after signing a one-day contract with the team to celebrate his 60th birthday, will take the mound during the pre-game ceremonies ahead of the 1:05 p.m. matchup against the Boston Red Sox at Yankee Stadium.
Crystal's Broadway co-star, singer and actress Shoshana Bean, will also sing the national anthem and the presentation of colors will be performed by the U.S. Army West Point Military Police Honor Guard.
Prior to the national anthem, Yankees season-ticket holders will unfurl a giant American flag on the field.
The Opening Day festivities will also include DJay Jung performing prior to the game and during inning breaks.
During the seventh-inning stretch, Grammy Award-nominated Broadway star Quentin Earl Darrington from "MJ the Musical" will sing “God Bless America.”
All fans in attendance at the game will receive an Opening Day commemorative ticket.
Pregame ceremonies are set to begin around 12:30 p.m. with the introduction of both teams on the baselines.
This is the first time since 2013 that the Yankees will face the Red Sox in their Opening Day game.
