Race Taylor in the Morning

Music has always been part of the picture in Race Taylor's life. Piano and drum lessons, band camp and jazz band festivals. This all led to a music degree from the University of Michigan and even more time playing with the U of M Marching, Concert and Jazz bands. After a few years teaching in the public schools, a radio opportunity presented itself at just the right time. What was going to be simply a semester out of the classroom soon became a full-time fascination and career.

Race met his wife Patty through radio as well. They were on the air together. She was doing radio and television traffic, while he was doing afternoons at Q102 Cincinnati. In a “pre-internet” era, they were just two mystery voices, until they eventually met and sparks flew. You can hear Patty doing traffic on 1010 WINS, and Race weekday mornings from 6A-10A on CBS FM. That music education still comes in handy. It makes talking with the artists and musicians you hear every day much easier.

Race and Patty have raised their 3 boys and dog Whiskey in New Jersey (What exit? #148! IYKYK) They love their community and support a variety of charities in the fight against cancer, hunger and the support of music education. They love to travel and when he’s not in the studio, you’ll find Race at home focused on his kids, trying to cook, on the golf course dreaming of the elusive “par”, or maybe in line at Applegate Farm ordering any ice cream with peanut butter in the name. After all these years, Race remains committed to connecting with audiences on the air, on the phone, and on social media as well. Follow me @RaceTaylor
