Cory Hepola: Dem proposals to cancel student debt are selling false hope to millennials

Kamala Harris recently became the latest Democrat to float a student debt forgiveness proposal, but it's not convincing 830 WCCO host Cory Hepola, who sees all the #CancelStudentDebt plans as being about one thing.

"Canceling student debt is selling false hope for votes. That's it. It's low hanging fruit for politicians to try and connect with young voters," Hepola said at beginning of his 9-noon show.

As for Harris's plan, Hepola noted, like many critics, that it's full of so many requirements that most people would not be able to qualify.

"If they start a business and operate it for at least three years in a disadvantaged community and the list keeps going on.....then you've got to run a mile in under five minutes, and then you've got to can 10 free throws in a row," Hepoa said. "Then you've got to slay a dragon. It's a a lot of hoops to jump through before you see that student debt wiped down."

He continued:

"None of that matters to Harris or really anyone else. They're just using the canceling student debt narrative to help them win the nomination, help them get elected, worry about that promise later, right?"
