We’ve got Jamie Purviance, the Culinary Cirector for Weber, on the show this week, to celebrate the release of his new book, “Weber’s Ultimate Grilling: A Step-by-Step to Barbecue Genius”. That’s why it seemed very summer-appropriate to round-up five of his best recipes for charcoal grilling—I’m a charcoal grilling fanatic, though I will tell you there are gas grill recipes in the book. But—fire! I love the taste of smoke and fire. If you do too, please note that Jamie is here in town on Monday, June 10th doing an event at Cook’s of Crocus Hill. Go! Love fire with others that love fire too. And till then, cook with fire, using recipes like these.

Yakitori Chicken SkewersI can’t say enough good things about simple chicken skewers with a Japanese glaze served next to whatever looked good at the farmer’s market, also grilled. That’s living!
Melted OnionsNothing tastes better with a steak than onions which have been cooked so long they just about melt—treat yourself! Grill them, then cook them even longer in butter. So good.
Rib Eye Steaks with Tomato ChimichurriWhat’s better than a steak on the grill? Obviously, nothing. For me, I use cheaper steaks like sirloin for a big-flavor sauce like chimichurri, but if you only eat the best. Don’t let me stop you!
Charcoal Grill Beer-Can ChickenI went and bought a fancy ceramic beer-can-chicken grill thing. It’s kind of like a wide-bottom vase or stand, to keep the chicken from tipping over.. That’s how much I love beer-can chicken. One of summer’s greatest treats!
Barbecued Pork RibsI mean, what says barbecue more than ribs? Jamie Purviance does a beautiful version with a very bold and intensely flavored sauce, which I personally think is terrific. Add a spicy field blend wine or a big-flavored beer, and you’re in for a great evening!
