The Twins' game on Saturday in Kansas City, scheduled for under the lights, is now an afternoon affair because of a gloomy weather forecast.

This comes after Friday's 6-2 win gave the Twins 100 victories for the second time in team history.

Only the 1965 American League championship team, at 102-60, has more wins.

For now.

The Twins can tie that mark if they sweep their weekend series in Kansas City, which got off to a winning start behind a solid outing from Jose Berrios and homers from Miguel Sano and Ryan LaMarre.

That gave the Twins 303 home runs in 2019, which trails the Yankees, who hit six home runs Friday in ther 14-7 win at Texas and now have 305 homers this year.

They are the only two teams in major league history to crack the 300 home run barrier in one season.

Friday's game at Kansas City was halted in the bottom of the seventh when heavy rains swept into the area.

Berrios pitched all six innings to surpass the 200-inning mark for the first time in his career, winding up the regular season with a 14-8 record.

Bad weather is expected in the Kansas City area Saturday night, and with the season coming to an end Sunday, Royals officials decided the best course of action was to try and get the game in prior to any storms.  The game had been scheduled for 6:15pm.

  • The Online Trading Academy show will be moved to a 5:00pm start.
  • That will be followed by St. Thomas Football at UW-Eau Claire (it will also be simulcast on 104.1 JACK FM due to the expected evening Twins game, but will stay on both stations because of the late change).

The Twins have already clinched the Central Division and will open the playoffs on the road in the Division Series next Friday night in New York against the Yankees.

Game two of the ALDS between the Yankees and Twins is next Saturday at Yankee Stadium.

The series switches to Target Field on Monday, Oct. 7.

Game four, if nesessary, would also be a Twins home game, with the deciding game five back in New York.

The Astros have clinched the top seed in the AL, and will host the winner of the Wild Card game between Oakland and Tampa Bay in the other division series.  The Indians were eliminated from postseason contention with their loss at Washington on Friday.
