Low visibility, slick roads making for difficult travel

According to State Patrol, by 9:30 p.m. Wednesday there were nearly 250 crashes statewide -- almost three dozen with injury -- with more than 200 spinouts and 18 jackknifed semis. Minneapolis, St. Paul and Anoka-Hennepin schools are closed today and travel is difficult-to-not-advised everywhere south of Alexandria.

"I guess the silver lining in this giant snow cloud is that the warm temperatures do a couple of things," he said. "One, the pavement was pretty warm when this all started so that certainly helped keep it from sticking and freezing right away. Second, salt works well in these temperatures and we've got plenty of salt."
