Twins will use high-tech security scanner at Target Field

It will be faster and easier to get into Target Field for a Twins game this summer.

The team has partnered with biometrics security company "CLEAR," where fans can do a quick fingerprint scan as they pass through security.  Bags will still need to be checked.

Twins Senior Vice President of Operations Matt Hoy.

"The trend seems to be late arriving crowds.  If you want to come up and get into the ballpark real quickly, you can just walk right up, put your fingers down, and move on."

For now, ticketholders can use the Clear technology only at the newly revamped Gat 34, but Hoy says they're hoping to add another Clear entrance in the coming months.

According to the Twins, they may use CLEAR in the futute at Target Field for ticketing, and even to buy things at concession stands.

“CLEAR is focused on enhancing the fan experience and enabling venues, leagues, and teams to provide fans with a safer, more enjoyable experience overall,” said CLEAR’s Head of Sports Ed O’Brien.  “We’re excited to partner with the Twins and look forward to making the Target Field experience frictionless and wallet-free so fans can focus on what they came to see.”

Fans can sign up for the service at Gate 34.  There is no cost to sign up.

The new additions to Gate 34 will officially be unveiled Monday.
