A car crash left one person dead early Saturday morning in Minneapolis.

Minneapolis police and fire responded to the accident at 3:42 a.m. at the intersection of 26th Street East and Cedar Avenue South. According to police spokesman John Elder, a vehicle traveling westbound on 26th Street East struck a vehicle traveling southbound on Cedar Avenue South. A male driver in his 50s who was inside the southbound vehicle died at the scene while three people in the westbound vehicle suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Drugs or alcohol impairment, excessive speed, and failing to obey a traffic control device are all believed to be factors in the crash. Police say the suspect is a male in his 30s. A blood draw warrant was executed and so far, the suspect has not been taken into custody.

The identity of the victim, along with the nature and cause of death, will be released by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office in the coming days.
