Prosecutors in the case of four former Minneapolis police officers charged in the death of George Floyd say they do not want audio or visual coverage of their trials when they start in March.
Under Minnesota court rules, a judge can allow the recording or reproduction of criminal proceedings that occur before a guilty verdict is reached, if both sides consent.
The state files a letter with the court on Monday, saying it does not consent.
The letter did not elaborate.
Defense attorneys for Derek Chauvin, Thomas Lane, J. Alexander Kueng, and Tou Thao have already asked for camera access during all proceedings.
Hennepin County judge Peter Cahill has not said when he will rule.
It’s not known if the four former officers will be tried together or separately.
