Golf courses are open again in Minnesota.
Now, if you can only find a tee time.
The order included clearly outlined social distancing rules that'll affect routine aspects of playing the game.
But no matter.
When golf enthusiasts found out -- and boy, did they ever -- the scramble was on to get in some playing time.
"They were ready to go, if you recall, we got the maintenance issue resolved ten days ago," said Ryan, referring to last week's executive order allowing golf course work crews back on the job.
Off limits, for now, are ball washers and sand trap rakes, and golfers are asked to not remove flag sticks from the holes.
Even the holes themselves are tailor-made for social distancing.
"Some will see a cup liner up a half-inch or so to keep the ball from going in," said Ryan. "Others may have something just inside the cup that will allow you to pick your ball out without touching anything."
A letter outlining the restrictions are posted on the website of the MGA and other golf organizations.
"We're really encouraging all of the golfers to understand that, while we're out there, we have to be very much aware of these protocols, we have to be on our best behavior," said Ryan. "We're confident that the golfing public is going to follow these, knowing that you can have something like this taken away as quickly as you got it if you don't follow the rules."
That is, if you can find a time to play.
"If you haven't already made a tee time, good luck," Ryan said. "It's going to be busy out there."
