Two Minneapolis police officers suffered non-life-threatening injuries on Tuesday night after two stolen vehicles fled a traffic stop.
In a news release, the Minneapolis Police Department said two vehicles matching the descriptions of stolen vehicles were stopped by police at 7:30 p.m. at Mill Ruins Park. As that stop was taking place, drivers and occupants in both vehicles fled the scene. One vehicle sideswiped an officer, pinning him against a squad car, while the other vehicle hit a squad car door into another officer, causing him to fall to the ground.
Additional officers pursued one of the vehicles while the other got away. A Minnesota State Patrol helicopter followed the case to the area of 18th and Newton Avenue North where the suspects pulled over, parked the car, and got into a different stolen vehicle.
Officers later witnessed the vehicle drive to the 2000 block of Queen Avenue North. The suspects fled from the vehicle and some ended up inside a home. Just before 1 a.m. Wednesday officers obtained a search warrant and entered the home where three men and three women, all believed to be adults, were arrested.
Charges against the six individuals haven't been announced.
