A death is now reported in Minnesota associated with vaping.
The Minnesota Department of Health says the person who died was older than 65, and had other underlying lung issues.
The individual, who is not being identified, was vaping an illicit product containing THC, the psychoactive ingredient in marijuana.
"This individual had back pain, and was using the THC to help with that," said Dr. Ruth Lynfield, state epidemiologist.
Minnesota has 17 patients who have been classified as confirmed or probable cases of lung difficulties associated with vaping illicit THC products. An additional 15 potential cases are under investigation.
The death is the fouth recent fatality in the country associated with vaping, prompting officials with the CDC to recommend that people stop vaping until more information can be gathered.
