A Wisconsin truck driver who pleaded guilty in a distracted-driving crash that killed a motorist in Lake Elmo was sentenced to one year in prison on Friday in Washington County court.
29-year-old Samuel Hicks of Independence, Wisc. was also sentenced to ten years on probation.
He reached a plea deal in April.
Killed at the scene on Feb. 27, 2018 was 54-year-old Robert Bursik, when his car was slammed by a truck driven by Hicks, who was on his cellphone at the time.

Hicks admitted he was texting to his girlfriend at the time of the collision.
Bursik was from Amery, Wisc.
