Governor Tim Walz has issued a proclamation calling for 8 minutes and 46 seconds of silence today as George Floyd is laid to rest. The Governor is asking for this moment to be held at 11 am, the time Floyd's funeral is set to begin.

“The world watched in horror as George Floyd’s humanity was taken away from him,” reads Governor Walz’s proclamation. “We will not wake up one day and have the disease of systemic racism cured. We must do everything in our power to come together to deconstruct generations of systemic racism in our state so that every Minnesotan – Black, Indigenous, Brown, or White – can be safe and thrive.”
George Floyd was killed while in the custody of the Minneapolis Police Department on May 25th. His funeral will start at 11 am today and will be carried on all of News Talk 830 WCCO's platforms.
