When you meet Alison Brown, you might find it shocking that she thinks someone made a mistake each time she gets hired for a new job.
This isn't some form of self-deprecating humble brag from the President and CEO of the Science Museum of Minnesota. She admits she takes a leap in every job and new endeavor.
"I can't do it until I do it," she said during the Real Leaders with Roshini podcast. Needless to say, she has never shied away from a challenge.
For now, she's working to make science more accessible - especially to young people from all walks of life.
She knows how important adult role models are. At age 11 her father instilled in her that she could be successful in business, no matter the odds. Brown also had a math teacher who inspired her, teaching that girls can undoubtedly thrive in mathematic fields.
As a leader, she tries to inspire her staff by making it easy for them to challenge her, listening intently, and speaking last at crucial meetings.
Nothing about Alison Brown is ordinary, and we haven’t even mentioned her expertise in jewelry making or the million miles worth of vertical skiing she has achieved in her life.
