The fall sports season is right around the corner. That means single-game tickets for Gophers football, volleyball, and soccer all go on sale this Thursday.
"In about a month, we'll start having home competitions and soccer and volleyball and then August 28th, here at home against Buffalo, we're kicking off with the Gold Out."
That is Mills Armbruster with Gopher Athletics who says the 2025 football schedule will look a little different compared to last season.
"Seven home games. They're spaced out a little differently than last year," Armbruster explains. "Last year, we had the unique challenge of four straight home games to start the season and five at home in the first six weeks. This year is a little more favorable, you know, we got the pockets of two home games max."
Armbruster says they've seen strong season ticket sales with many renewing at the deadline.
"And get that number over 90%, which is kind of the industry standard, but for us it was really impactful to get there," he adds. "And people want to want this place to succeed. People want to see Coach Fleck and his Golden Gophers do well, and they're buying in. That's the great thing. So we're hoping we can deliver a product so that, while they're watching the gophers play on the field, they're getting the experience to match."
This season includes the Thursday home opener during the Minnesota State Fair against Buffalo, and a Friday night game October 17 against Nebraska, which happens to be the same night of the Paul McCartney show at U.S. Bank Stadium.
Armbruster says they're constantly adjusting to make the most of the schedule even if there are conflicts, with the television right to determine game times making things tricky.
"There's never enough you can do to truly prepare for the schedule as it sometimes has changed," Armbruster said. "Like, we don't get game times until six days out for some of these games. So, even though we might have the date circled, we can never truly identify if it's gonna be day or night or early morning, afternoon, any of that. So, a lot of what we plan is around the date itself."
Of course the regular season wraps up in a battle for Paul Bunyan's Axe with the Gophers hosting Wisconsin November 29.
