The Lynx say they got who they wanted in the WNBA Draft.

Now, it's up to Alissa Pili to show she can score in the pros as well as she did for the University of Utah.

Pili was Pac 12 player of the year as a junior, and last season scored 21 points per game for the Utes.

And now she's the eighth overall selection in the draft after the Lynx traded down with Chicago, who got the seventh pick and chose highly-touted center Angel Reese of LSU.

Pili is from Anchorage, Alaska and played two seasons at Souther California before transferring to Utah.

"Her deeply-rooted heritage and family, that came through as well on the calls," said Cheryl Reeve, Lynx head coach and basketball operations president. "There are a lot of endearning qualities about her in addition to being a good basketball player."

The Lynx other pick is shooting guard Kiki Jefferson, who was taken as the 31st overall selection.

Jefferson played four seasons at James Madison before closing out her college career at Louisville.

The picks came during the one of the most anticipated drafts in WNBA history.

The top overall selection was a no-brainer, with Indiana taking Iowa's Caitlin Clark.

The Fever is scheduled to play the Lynx one time at Target Center, on July 14.

The first preseason practice for the Lynx is April 30 at the Courts at Mayo Clinic Square, with their only preseason home game coming on May 5 against Washington.

The 25th WNBA season for the Lynx begins on May 14 at Seattle, with the same two teams meeting up three days later at Target Center.
