It wasn't as uncomfortable as expected for the thousands who ran in the 2025 Twin Cities Marathon.
The competition for the overall winner was hot enough.
With temperatures in the 70's and rain dampening the second half of the course, Will Norris was first to cross the finish line adjacent to the Minnesota state capitol building.
The winning time was 2:15:39, well off the record set in 2016.
Norris, 30, who grew up in Spirit Lake, Ia. and now lives in Charlottesville, Va.; edged out Tsfu Tewelde by 25 seconds to win his first Twin Cities Mararthon title.
He finished sixth in last year's race, not long after he won the Jersey City Marathon.
Marathon organizers were showing concern earlier in the week with temperatures reaching unseasonably high levels.
It was in the 90's on Saturday and in the low 70's when the big race began for thousands of runners lined up at US Bank Stadium.
Misting stations were added to the course, along with ample water stops.
Many runners took precautions before the race began.
"I have a running vest and I have water (bottles), one of them has liquid IV and the other has just plain water," said Shelby Mendez of Houston, Tex., who said she hydrated much of Saturday.
Water is the preferred drink, but some have secret formulas.
"Pickle juice is the secret weapon to avoid cramping," said Jacob Pittman of Farmington.
The first woman to cross the finish line was Jane Bareikis of Crestwood, Il.
The 30-year-old was 14th overall with a time of 2:32:52.
