The Timberwolves announced their first half season schedule last week and are now making it official that WCCO will return as the radio partner for the 2020-21 season. Games will also be broadcast on FM HD at 102.9-3 and regionally available on the RADIO.COM app.
The Timberwolves have called WCCO home since the 2011-12 season. Fox Sports North will return as the TV partner.
Alan Horton will return as the radio voice of the team with Cal Soderquist handling pregame, halftime and postgame duties.
The Timberwolves officially start the season at Target Center December 23rd against the Detroit Pistons.
WCCO will also air all three preseason games, December 12th and 14th at home against the Memphis Grizzlies, and December 17th in Dallas versus the Mavericks.
The team is coming off a tough season that ended abruptly when COVID shutdown most sports across the country. The Timberwolves were not part of the teams playing inside the NBA bubble in Florida that eventually lead to the Lakers winning the NBA title.
With a refreshed roster, a healthy Karl-Anthony Towns, a full season of D'Angelo Russell and the number one overall pick in the NBA Draft Anthony Edwards, there are some higher expectations for this season.
It gets started this Saturday night with the first preseason game which will be heard right here on WCCO Radio.
