The Twins finally lost a game.
Jackson Chourio robbed Royce Lewis of a potential tying homer in the eighth inning, and the Milwaukee Brewers ended the Minnesota Twins' 13-game winning streak with a 5-2 victory on Sunday.
But the last three weeks have turned early-season disappointment on its ear and puts the Twins right back in the mix in the American League Central.
Twins manager Rocco Baldelli said despite Sunday's loss, the Twins put together some of the best baseball he's ever seen.
"Had an opportunity to win, couldn't get it done today," Baldelli says. "An amazing run over the last two weeks. I had to tell the guys that after the game. There's a lot of work still to be done, and I think I told them we're just kind of scratching the surface as far as what what we're capable of this year. That was just a great run of baseball, one of the best two week spans of baseball I've ever been a part of in my life. We want to get it going again tomorrow and start a new one."
Now attention turns to Cleveland - and the weather. Monday night's game could see very chilly temps, high winds and some rain. Tuesday looks much worse. So we'll see if the Twins and Guardians can get in some baseball anyway. Weather is expected to clear up by Wednesday's game time.
After Cleveland, Kansas City comes to Target Field for three games over the Memorial Day weekend as the Twins try to start up a new winning streak.
