The Twins have hired two new coaches to their major league coaching staff.

The team announced that Jayce Tingler would be their new bench coach. Tingler spent the past two seasons as the manager for the San Diego Padres. While with the Padres, Tingler led them to a 116-106 record with one playoff appearance. He also finished second in the National League Manager of the Year voting in 2020.

The Twins also announced that their new hitting coach would be David Popkins. The 31-year-old was most recently the hitting coach for the Los Angeles Dodgers' High-A minor league affiliate Great Lakes Loons. Popkins played three seasons in the St. Louis Cardinals organization reaching their Double-A team. He also spent time in independent baseball playing for the Sioux Falls Canaries.

These moves came after the Twins reassigned former hitting coach Edgar Varela to a development role and the tragic death of former bench coach Mike Bell.
