Former Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Adam Thielen is calling it a career. He announced his retirement on Wednesday.

The 35-year old spent most of his career with the Vikings, but his career officially came to an end with the Steelers who lost in Monday's Wild Card Playoff game against Houston. Thielen had two catches in the 30-6 Texans win.

Thielen, who also spent time with the Carolina Panthers in between two stints in Minnesota, is a native of Detroit Lakes who played college football at Minnesota State Unversity-Mankato.

He was an undrafted free agent who originally was signed to the Vikings practice squad. Thielen worked his way onto the roster, eventually becoming a household name with the Vikings.

Thielen was a second team All-Pro in 2017, and a two-time Pro Bowl wide receiver (2017 and 2018). He also holds an NFL record for most consecutive 100-yard receiving games (8).

He ends his career with 178 games played, 704 receptions for 8,497 yards and 64 touchdowns. Thielen finishes his career fifth on the Vikings all-time receiving yards list behind Cris Carter, Randy Moss, Justin Jefferson, and Anthony Carter. He's fourth all-time in receptions behind Carter, Moss and Jefferson. And he is third in touchdown receptions behind just Carter and Moss.
