    News Anchor / Reporter

    Laura Oakes started her career with News Talk 830 WCCO in 1996 as a Broadcast Journalist. She is one of WCCO’s news anchors, and has won several awards for her newscasts and feature stories, including a prestigious regional Edward R. Murrow Award in 2020 for her “Power of Music” feature project. Laura also hosts “Laura’s Good News,” on WCCO Sunday mornings. A native of Shakopee, Oakes attended the University of Minnesota-Duluth.

    Laura and her husband, Chris, have a son in college and enjoy traveling whenever possible. Laura is also a budding guitarist and songwriter, and is enjoying making connections in the Twin Cities music scene.
