Don't have tickets to Friday night's Game 2 against the Dallas Mavericks? No need to worry as the team is hosting a huge block party across the street from Target Center as fan excitement ratchets up for the Western Conference Finals.
The party gets started at 4:00 p.m. and they expect a huge crowd according to Wolves VP of Marketing Heather Meyer.
"We are currently programming this space to hold about 4,000 people, but we have the opportunity to go bigger," says Meyer.
Although the parking lot next to Gluek's is privately owned, that location made the most sense.
"When you think about its proximity to Target Center and its proximity, even just to our own offices, our windows look out to that parking lot," Meyer explains. "So we felt like that made the most sense."
There will be food, beverages, activities, music, a jumbo screen to watch the game and maybe a surprise or two.
"Some alumni will stop by, it's not KG for sure, but I can definitely say it's people of that era," Meyer said.
Load in started early Thursday morning and will be ready when doors open Friday afternoon. Once again, downtown Minneapolis is the place to be.
"We're just really excited to kind of bring this atmosphere to downtown, and bring an opportunity for fans who have tickets to the game or don't have tickets to the game to experience the love of basketball," says Meyer.
The event is free, but tickets are required.
