Alcohol and speed are believed to have been factors in a Wednesday night crash that involved seven vehicles and claimed the life of a 26-year-old woman just south of downtown Minneapolis.

The Minnesota State Patrol says Natalie Gubbay of Minneapolis died in the crash caused by a Chevy Avalanche that struck several vehicles as it was traveling eastbound from I-94 to Lyndale Avenue at a high rate of speed.

Gubbay was the driver of a 2015 Jeep Cherokee that included a 28-year-old passenger who suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the Avalanche, a 29-year-old St. Paul man, was speeding and had alcohol in his system according to the state patrol. His passenger, a 20-year-old St. Paul woman, was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Several people involved suffered non-life threatening injuries with their ages ranging from 2-years-old to 63-years-old.

A portion of I-94 was shutdown for a short time.
