We're celebrating the historical tradition of Minnesota Hospital at the State Fair with twelve of our classic renditions during this year's fair!
It wasn't often that a big name would show up on Minnesota Hospital. There were the occasional stand-ins for "Nurse Helen" but a great deal of the charm of the bit came from the various impressions that were done by WCCO personalities.
In 1995 however, Charlie Boone, Roger Erickson, Dave Lee and Eric Eskola were joined by a very special guest, actor William Christopher.
Christopher was a cast member on one of television's most popular shows of all-time, M*A*S*H. He played Father Mulcahy, the often overwhelmed Priest for the entire run of the show plus the series spinoff AfterMASH.
Christopher appeared in many television shows, movies and even a few feature films and stage productions over the years. Christopher passed away at the age of 84 in 2016.
We're sure it was a career highlight for the actor to join the WCCO crew on the porch at the Minnesota State Fair, bringing back Father Mulcahy to fans at the fairgrounds!
