After eight dead dogs were found on Grey Cloud Island in rural Cottage Grove, 22 more dogs were rescued in Andover under the same investigation.
The Anoka County Sheriffs Office discovered the dogs near 7th Ave NW in Andover in an unidentified building. The animal rescue, which is not related to the building’s former occupant, is an animal training facility. That is believed to be where the dogs died.
Tierney Peters with the department describes this searches connection to the dogs found dead on Grey Cloud Island.
"The animal rescue which is not related to the building's former occupant with the signs on the building, is the location where at this time, we believe those dogs did die."
The dogs retrieved are being cared for by The Animal Humane Society and the case continues to be investigated by the Anoka County Sheriffs office & Cottage Grove police.
Police in Cottage Grove now say a person has confessed to dumping the eight dead dogs on Gray Cloud Island which is along the Mississippi River near Highway 52. However, they said they don't believe that person was responsible for killing the dogs.
The discovery of those dogs was made by an off-duty officer this past weekend.
