A man with a shotgun was taken into custody Friday after a standoff in a parking lot at the Mall of America, authorities said.
The Bloomington Police Department said on social media that crisis negotiators were brought to the scene and the man was arrested in the area of American Boulevard and 24th Avenue in the Twin Cities suburb.
The standoff began shortly after 4 p.m.
Reports indicate a 911 caller said the man had a large gun in the parking lot and entered a tent for the Royal Canadian International Circus, which is set up in the lot.
Bloomington police say they had the man at gunpoint but he was not listening to commands.
Police have said reports of shots being fired were false, and that it was a youth fight that was broken up.
The mall was closed for a time with individuals asked not to leave, however a lockdown was not put in place.
Surrounding streets were closed for a time and people were being asked to avoid the area.
This is the third incident involving guns at the Mall of America since last August.
Mall security has been experimenting with ways to better screen people coming, including random bag checks at entrances, onsite Bloomington police officers, and an extensive system of cameras.
