Two teens and one adult have been charged in connection with the fatal shooting of 19-year-old Johntae Hudson at the Mall of America on December
23.

18-year-old Taeshawn Adams-Wright is charged with second-degree murder with intent and second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon for his alleged involvement. Two juveniles are charged with aiding and abetting second-degree felony riot-armed with a dangerous weapon.

Adams-Wright will appear in court on this Friday at 1:30 p.m. The two juveniles are scheduled to appear in court on Thursday.

Bloomington Police Department Chief Booker Hodges made the following statement Thursday afternoon.

“This continues to be an active investigation, and we expect additional arrests and criminal charges associated with this case in the near future. Our detectives continue to work tirelessly on this case. Their job is made more difficult because those involved have been, and continue to be, uncooperative. Despite this, our efforts to lock up everyone responsible for this incident will not cease.”

The criminal complaint alleges multiple witnesses saw a group of males arguing in the Nordstrom men's department store before Hudson and a group of his friends attempted to flee the scene. Surveillance video shows several of Hudson's friends successfully evading but Hudson was blocked by one of the juveniles charged with the case.

Hudson was later tackled by another one of the juveniles and was held until Adams-Wright arrived. Video allegedly shows Adams-Wright, and one other juvenile who was not charged in the case, standing over Hudson in a shooting stance. Although clothing displays obstructed several camera views, one camera captured a hand pointing a handgun towards where victim's body was found, and a bright muzzle flash reflected on the floor.

The Hennepin County Medical Examiner's office say Hudson had eight gunshot wounds to his back, arm, buttocks, and thigh and three additional graze wounds on his thigh.

Court records provided say at the time of the offense, Adams-Wright had a warrant for his arrest arising from an a second degree assault offense in Stearns County.
