The suspect in Friday morning's armed kidnapping of a family near Brainerd that prompted an AMBER Alert has been arrested.

The suspect was identified by police as 35-year-old Chad Aanerud.

They allege he kidnapped his pregnant 33-year-old girlfriend, Nikkole Dobson, and her four kids at gunpoint early this morning.

Authorities say he also shot and killed a man at a separate nearby residence and burning down a home on that property.

Aanerud's car was spotted in Morrison County by law enforcement officers, and the arrest was made.

Dobson and her four children are Brandon, 14, Haley, 11, Gracie, 7, and Chloe, 3, were found unharmed.

According to authorities, Aanerud arrived around 1:50 a.m. Friday at a residence on the 15000 block of Loerch Road where Dobson and her children were staying.

He fired a rifle round into the ceiling of the residence and forced Dobson and her children to leave with him.

Aanerud is also suspected of fatally shooting a 62-year-old man at a separate nearby residence and burning down a home on that property.

Authorities identified the gunshot victim as Lyle Maske of Brainerd.
