An AMBER ALERT was canceled Friday night hours after a one-year-old boy was returned anonymously to his mother.
Brooklyn Park police confirmed RayRay Powell was returned to his mother around 6:30 p.m. nearly two hours after an AMBER ALERT was issued to help find him after the car he was inside was stolen in south Minneapolis.
Minneapolis police reported that a 2008 white Buick Enclave was stolen around 3:30 p.m. near the area of Bloomington Avenue and Lake Street East and that the boy was inside. The mother told police she momentarily left the car running while the boy was inside.
MPD found the vehicle about a mile from where it was stolen around the same time Brooklyn Park police were told the child had been left with his mother.
The AMBER ALERT was canceled a short time later. Police have not located the suspect who stole the car with the child inside.
