Folks who grew up in White Bear Lake have always known the ice cream served at "Cup and Cone" is really good. Now, the whole nation knows it.
The results of "America's Best Ice Cream poll" were announced Monday morning and they put Cup and Cone right on top.
Online voting for the field of 64 tournament began June 17 and wrapped up on Sunday.
Cup and Cone got to the final by getting more votes than ice cream places in St. Petersburg, Kansas City, Seattle, and Louisville. Ultimately they won the title over "The STIL" in Boise, Idaho. St. Paul's Grand Ole Creamery was also part of the voting, losing out to The STIL in the round of eight.
Cup and Cone has been serving up ice cream in White Bear Lake since the 1970s.
They also recently hosted WCCO's Adam and Jordana who did their show live there as part of WCCO's Cure Blood Cancer Radio Auction.
