If you're a Minnesota sports memorabilia fan, this auction's for you.
The University of Minnesota is auctioning off authentic lockers used by Golden Gopher athletes throughout the years. The wood lockers with cushioned seats have been in storage at the university's Reuse Program warehouse, where Todd Tanner is manager.
"The primary goal of this program is waste stream diversion," says Tanner. "So we take all of this material that comes from all around campus and we ask ourselves what can we do with it alternatively to just throwing it away."
The University's Reuse Program collects surplus office supplies, furniture, lab equipment, and just about anything else than can be repurposed and kept out of the waste stream.
"Our primary mission is waste stream diversion," Tanner explains. "So this warehouse is cluttered and it's full of things that the average person is going to look at and go, who would want that? Well, we're not looking for the average person. We're looking for that one person (who) is like, that is exactly what I need."
You'll need some decent space for the lockers. They're 95-inches tall and come complete with seats, storage and all the U of M logos you could want.
The locker auction is being held on K-BID.com while supplies last. It is live now and bidding is accepted for just over a week.
