The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is investigating two separate "use of force" incidents that took place in Pine County on Tuesday.
The first incident happened just before 2 p.m. in Pine City. Pine County deputies shot and injured a man who they were attempting to arrest on an outstanding warrant.
Deputies were wearing body cameras during the incident.
Around 4 p.m. the Minnesota State Patrol deployed stop sticks during a vehicle pursuit. The BCA says it's unclear whether or not the stop sticks were effective, but the vehicle went off the road and rolled into the ditch on northbound Interstate 35 between mile markers 187 and 188, a few miles south of Sandstone.
The vehicle's lone occupant did not exit or comply with police commands to exit the vehicle. A deputy fired "less-than-lethal rounds" breaking the car windows. The driver did not respond to a K-9, either.
Officers approached the vehicle and found the driver dead of a gunshot wound to the head. A handgun was recovered inside the vehicle.
Troopers and deputies were wearing body cameras, which were active, during that incident.
