Minnesota-baed celebrity chef Justin Sutherland is charged with a felony for allegedly threatening to shoot his former girlfriend.

According to the criminal complaint, the woman told police Sutherland had put his hands around her neck, pointed a gun at her, hit her in the chest with the gun, and threatened to kill her.

Investigators say Sutherland had blood on his hands when police arrived at home on Front Avenue in St. Paul Friday night. A search of the home turned up 10 guns.

Police arrested Sutherland after they determined a domestic assault and threats of violence had occurred.

Sutherland rose to prominence after winning the TV competition "Iron Chef America" and has appeared on Top Chef. He was the original executive chef at St. Paul's Handsome Hog and now owns a breakfast sandwich shop on Grand Avenue.
