Charges are filed in Tuesday night's assault of a high school athlete during a prep basketball game at Robbinsdale Cooper High School.
Officials say a 17-year-old player on the visiting team from Fridley was hit on the top of his head with a tire iron by one person, and beaten and nearly stabbed by two others.
Court records filed Thursday show three males in their late teens are all charged with second-degree assault and second-degree riot.
The suspects are identified as Yahya Khanyare, 18, Dursa Mohamed, 18, and Ayub Ali, 19.
Mohamed was also charged with fleeing a police officer.
Two juveniles were also arrested.
The teen who was attacked was taken to the hospital and needed six staples to close the laceration on his head.
The three suspects are due in court this afternoon
