The Taste of Minnesota is once again coming back to Nicollet Mall this summer with a new lineup of music.
The Wallflowers and Martina McBride alongside a slew of local artists will be performing at this year's event.
Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey says this year will be even bigger and better than last year.
"So, last year we got almost 100,000," said the mayor. "This year, we're looking to have more than 100,000. That's a ton of people."
This years festivities will include over 60 food vendors and hundreds or local artists showing off and selling their work and don’t forget, tickets are free. But you can also RSVP here which allows them to track attendance and they'll also provide you with updates on the event.
This is the second year comeback of the Taste of Minnesota festival in downtown Minneapolis. It comes after a seven-year hiatus. The original Taste of Minnesota started in the early 1980s at the State Capitol in St. Paul. It was always a free event, and eventually became one of the state’s largest gatherings. It moved to Harriet Island in 2003.
Eventually, Taste of Minnesota came undone in the 2000s when money started to become scarce.
Cohost of this year's event, Fancy Ray, says the festivities planned this year are a must-see.
"The vibration is going to be coast to coast," Fancy Ray proclaimed. "It's going to shatter all records and purple all quotas. Jimmy Jam, Terry Lewis, Morris Day and The Time, and Martin McBride are gonna rock the Taste of Minnesota."
Local celeb chef and TV personality Andrew Zimmern will return as the Food Ambassador again.
Everything will go down July 6th and 7th on Nicollet Mall from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Get more information here.
For pet owners, while the event is outdoors they ask you to leave dogs at home due to crowd size.
