Dozens of officers and firefighters, as well as community members, lined up outside the building to offer their condolences in Ramsey, Minnesota, as the bodies of two Wisconsin police officers fatally shot this weekend were brought to the Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office.

32-year-old Cheteck police officer Emily Breidenbach, and 23-year-old Cameron police officer Hunter Sheel, were killed on Saturday afternoon during a traffic stop.

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz spoke about the death of the two officers, calling it a heartbreaking situation.

“First of all, our deepest sympathies to two families totally ripped apart,” Walz said during a press conference on Monday.

The governor shared that on Easter, he listened to a sermon from the pastor of one of the officers, noting that he knows how hard it must be for the congregation.

The man authorities say shot them was 50-year-old Glenn Perry.

Officials say the two officers were conducting the traffic stop based on a warrant and to check the welfare of the driver. It was at that point that gunfire was exchanged.

The investigation into the situation remains ongoing at this time.
